DIY Paper Sunflowers Mantel

These DIY paper sunflowers are quick, easy and budget friendly for your summer decor, especially to decorate your summer mantel with! I decided to make these on a whim. I love to make something with things I have on hand! You probably have all the supplies for these easy sunflowers around your house right now. DIY paper sunflowers for home decor mantel idea. I used a cardboard box for the sunflower centers and painted it with brown acrylic craft paint. (I love cardboard if you are new here! See how I used it here  and another idea here!) Using a lighter brown with a sponge pounce brush I added light brown “seeds”. You could flip this color combo for a different look. Using a brown Sharpie I added some dots and loose outlines for a little whimsy. DIY paper sunflowers for home decor mantel idea. Tissue paper is fun to work with and I think you could even mix in some other colors for a change! Just fold your tissue paper like an accordian, however thick you want your sunflower petals to be. Trim the stack to a soft point making sure you get the edges cut enough to separate each petal from the next. You will need quite a few petals if you make a large sunflower. Hot glue the petals to the back of your cardboard center. (finger protectors are helpful on this!) It helps to do a few rows to make the sunflower nice and full. If you want to display this somewhere you will see the back just fill the whole backside up with petals! Small ones would be so cute as a table centerpiece, don’t ya think? Attach your DIY paper sunflowers to some dowel rods, stir sticks, stick from the yard or whatever you have on hand an make a few paper leaves for an added touch. I anchored my sunflowers in terra cotta pots with a piece of floral foam stuck in the bottom. Add some Easter grass or shredded tissue paper to cove the foam.DIY paper sunflowers for home decor mantel idea. Throw in some cute garland, pom poms or banners and you have a sweet little summer mantel on your hands! Show me what you make friend, I love to see your projects. These are so cheerful. What a great idea. I would like to try and make them out of some recycled plastic that I paint yellow, and green for the leaves, and display outside.

Remind yourself minute by minute of God’ s faithfulness. Keep trusting Him. I pray you allow God to use this time in your life to strengthen your testimony of His work in you!
