I am sharing one of the cutest places on Earth with you today – The Antique Rose Emporium near Brenham, Texas. On my last trip to Round Top Antiques Week my girlfriend and I made a special trip to visit the Antique Rose Emporium gardens. She had never been and in case you haven’t either join me for a little tour!
Over the years I have made many trips to the Antique Rose Emporium and I love it every single time. It never fails to inspire. If you live far away don’t worry, they have a great website you can order a huge variety of antique and historic roses! Visit them online here.
When we still lived in Bryan, Texas and my children were younger I used to pack them in the car early on a summer morning and road trip to the Emporium. It’s a beautiful place to wander around and look at gorgeous flowers, hunt for lizards and spend a few hours before the Texas sun melts you like a snowman. It’s super inspiring for a wannabe plant lady like myself. Are you a wannabe as well or is your thumb already green? (P.S. – you can get this shirt in my Mercantile here!).
The gardens are precious with various outdoor “rooms” and tons of interesting focal points. The whole place is like a free arboretum and is exceptionally well maintained.
All through the space you get to see a huge variety of not only roses but local shrubs and flowers.
Plus cute little vignettes you will snap pictures of so you can recreate them once you drive back home with a belly full of dreams. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and can help you with your tough gardening questions.
There is a chapel and old home on site, perfect for weddings and events.
There is even a dreamy gazebo for a small affair or party. Maybe pack a picnic and enjoy the view – that’s what I would do with the kiddos!
Of course you can shop the vast variety of antique roses, flowers, plants and herbs they have available so you can go home and recreate the bliss you just walked though!
In case you want to make your own fun day trip it’s good to know how far The Antique Rose Emporium is from major Texas cities:
1 hour and 30 minutes NW of Houston
1 hour and 45 minutes East of Austin
3 hours and 15 minutes South of Dallas
2 hours and 45 minutes NE of San Antonio
As a total sidebar, look at this precious little gas station in the little town of Independence, which is basically where the Emporium actually is!
If you are visiting the Brenham or Round Top area of Texas I highly recommend paying a visit to this sweet little hidden treasure, you are sure to go home and dig in the dirt once you leave!
