Howdy! I hope you’ll hang tight with me here and let me share a few fun Valentine decorations for your table with ya!? I have some super simple, budget friendly ideas you can mix and match to create a sweet Valentine’s Day table for you and your sweetheart(s) to enjoy!
I love how cheery Valentine’s Day is – it reminds me of my youth, swaping silly cards and conversation hearts. Can’t you just feel the anticipation of wondering if that cute boy was gonna put a Valentine in your perfectly designed school “mailbox”? Then all the girls gather and giggle trying to decode the message each Valentine card must mean. Those were good times. Good times are still to be had around the dinner table and now my three kids are sharing Valentine tales of their own and I soak up each one more then those long lost perforated cards and lollipop accoutrements. Let me walk you through a few Valentine decorating ideas so you can soak up the nostalgia with me!
Some of the items you will see in this tablescape come from my Valentine’s Day Printable Bundle and you can get it here if you want to duplicate the look. There are seriously so many ways to use the printables in this pack, I’m in love.
Layering a table is my favorite thing, especially using plate chargers and placemats. Both can get expensive and I can’t recommend DIY’ing your own enough – it is a budget saver! I made these black chalkboard placemats long ago and use them ALL THE TIME! You can get the tutorial here. Next I used the same technique I made my paper mantel hearts with for these lovable placemats. Read how to make them here. Let me share a few tips for the placemats though.
I sealed mine with a clear satin spray paint to help them stand up to the wear and tear of sitting on our table for a month. This also helps them lay flat since they are made from wrapping paper, it tends to roll up on you. The other trick to making sure your wrapping paper creations lay flat is to iron the paper. Yep – with a regular old clothes iron. A few glides of the iron and your paper will be smooth! Don’t let the iron sit in one spot, move it continuously and gently to help get wrinkles and curls out of wrapping paper (or any paper really).
For the centerpiece I used some more of the hearts on spindle stands that I used in my Valentine’s mantel. I just love these little guys, they are so perfect to sprinkle around the house. Make sure you have a variety of heights and patterns. If you use cute wrapping paper on both the front and back your table will look awesome from any angle.
This DIY cloth bead garland is another DIY I use often and you can get the tutorial here. Weave it around your centerpiece for an element of texture.
I love the mini cupcake stands and you can often find them at the Target dollar spot, grab them when you see them because they go fast! They are great for more than dessert. Just decorate with dollar store roses and fun little printable from my Valentine’s Day Bundle you can get here.
Make these cute mini stands for your tiny prints with a some dollar store items. Just hot glue a small clothespin to a wood bead or block and you have an instant card holder. They would look better painted, but I just needed them done.
Next I printed some extra banner pieces from the Valentine’s Day bundle and used them as napkin ring place cards. A hole punch and a Sharpie and you are good to go! Don’t feel like you have to use cloth napkins for a napkin ring – I use them all the time on cute paper napkins. See them used as an actual banner in my house here!
On other little decor piece that is so simple is this little print I added to the buffet (it’s in the Valentine’s Day Bundle as well). Never underestimate a clipboard as a simple way to display a cute printable piece of art. Add a could dollar store roses and you have an adorable little Valentine’s Day corner.
I really hope you got some inspiration here to make your table a place to gather your loved ones this Valentine’s Day. Remember – alone, married, single, divorced, widowed, dating it doesn’t matter – YOU are loved by the MOST HIGH and always have a Valentine to be thankful for! Enjoy the day no matter what your stage and situation in life. Love yourself big friend! xoxo
