I’ve been talking about this kitchen renovation for months! We finally redid our spec home kitchen into a modern French country kitchen and I am LOVING the change it made for our entire house! If you’ve been following along, you can see the mood board I created to help bring the space together here. It has a shopping guide if you’d like to know where to find any of the ideas you see in our new kitchen. Today I am just sharing some pictures of the finished product to give you some ideas for your french country kitchen makeover! Here is where it started:
The one thing I did love about this new builder home was the cabinets, so I let them take the lead on planning. The counter-tops just felt too busy for me and were the main thing I wanted to tone down. We chose a quartz counter-top and they have already proven to be durable and easy to clean. The large movement and color in the quartz takes the busy feel down a few notches, but still has personality.
The kitchen faucet might be my favorite, it looks so rich and luxurious, but really wasn’t costly as far as kitchen faucets go! It is the start of the kitchen and since it sits in the middle of all the action, I think that is just right!
The back-splash was the main hold up on the spec kitchen reno, mainly because I couldn’t find what I wanted and I am so glad! As I kept searching for the perfect back-splash I found what I finally selected! It is fabulous and the pictures don’t do it justice!!! This vintage feeling arabesque pattern has a sweet raised pattern that is subtle yet striking. The kitchen back-splash is simple but elegant and the look is timeless. Just what I was hoping for!
This little side cabinet area is the perfect coffee bar and looks so good now that it is finished. The builder missed installing these cabinets and had to order them, they didn’t get installed until after we moved in and the counter-tops didn’t get added until this update! We’ve been working off a piece of wood acting as a counter-top!
We changed out the sink to a nice deep, sleek shaped zero radius stainless steel and my husband upgraded the stove. He did some research and landed on a induction stove top. We are used to gas, but that wasn’t an option in this house, so this was the next best thing. He really loves cooking with it and I have enjoyed it too. The induction stove boils water in 90 seconds. It’s crazy. You have to have the correct cookware for the stove-top to work, so we lost a few pots in the switch, but overall I would highly recommend an induction cook top.
A kitchen renovation can be stressful, but if you have all your selections and details chosen and use reputable contractors it doesn’t have to be. Plus you just have to breathe and accept the mess and inconvenience that accompanies the process. It is so worth it in the end!
Now that our spec house kitchen to modern French country renovation is done I am able to move on to some other parts of the house like the bedrooms! They are next in my plan to make this vanilla house a cozy vintage feeling home. So thankful to have you along on the journey friend! Be sure to save this post for later if you are planning a kitchen reno in your future!
