Want to see the cutest childhood memory come to life again? Fair warning, you will want to start dabbling in miniatures after you see this….and I can’t encourage you enough to dive in. This dollhouse tour was so fun to put together for those of you new to the blog. I renovated my childhood dollhouse a few years ago. My Neena (grandmother) gave it to me for Christmas when I was five. I adored her and this dollhouse.
Over the years it got lots of use. All my nieces and nephews and my children played with it. It was broken and missing parts, beautiful furniture replaced with plastic pieces. When it returned to me it looked like this.
I went room by room, taking my time, designing each room from start to finish and not moving on to the next until each room was complete. I really need to take note of this for my house! It was so nice to focus on one space at a time and really make it how I wanted instead of my brain being like a rapid squirrel jumping all over the place. That’s my normal.
I worked from the ground floor up and made each room a mix of the way our house looks today swirled with some decorating dreams. I binge watched Netflix while I worked. It was glorious. You really have to try it. It spurred me on to do an outdoor fairy garden and a little garden shop.
Other Miniature Project Idea
I couldn’t be more happy with the way it turned out, I only wish my Neena would have seen it. She would have been so proud! Here is a list of different rooms and phases of the dollhouse makeover if you want more details. Feel free to ask any questions you may have about working with an old dollhouse or miniatures!
