I’m not sure how this is the first year I’ve put together a Christmas Hot Chocolate Bar, but it is. And we LOVE it. I thought it’s be fun to share some practical ideas for you to create your own little hot chocolate station with a few fun DIY items, dollar store and Walmart finds!
I started out with my DIY tiered tray (plans and instructions here!) – of course you can use any tiered tray. Even if you don’t have one you can create a hot chocolate (or coffee) bar on a side table, little nook or kitchen counter. I found so many cute and inexpensive things to decorate with and of course mixed in some of the items I already had on hand like canning jars and vintage green glass jars.
Make sure you visit your nearest dollar store and Walmart for fun little additions. Since I was shopping specifically for items to use in my hot chocolate bar I feel like it was easy to collect fun little bargain items to decorate with. Display the food items in a cute way! They make their own decor. I just put our hot cocoa mix in glass jars along with a jar of marshmallows.
Have you tried the new Sugar Cookie M&M’s, they are delish! Poured in a bowl they are brilliantly festive. The mug and napkins came from Walmart. The snow globes and peppermint spoons are from Dollar Tree.
I’m not a fan of peppermint in my cocoa, so I think these candy canes make the perfect choice. One is Cookies and Cream the other is Chocolate.
I found these cool chocolate marshmallows that have a solid chunk of chocolate in the middle, my kids love them for melting in their mug of cocoa. We are also fans of the melt away Santa chocolates. They come in little packages for $1 each at Walmart and I just dumped a few into a jar so we can sprinkle them in all season. Use Christmas ornaments to tuck in here and there, especially festive word ones from the Dollar Tree!
Possibly the find of the season —>>> I got a few of these holiday gnomes at the Dollar Tree!!! How precious are they???
Clip some greenery from the yard and add it to holiday colored jars and vases for a free bit of decor. The milk jar is from Walmart. Cheap cookie cutters are great decor and the tree is a simple DIY idea I shared HERE!
Don’t forget the backside of your tiered hot chocolate bar! Since ours sits on the kitchen island I want it to look good from all angles. I love this count down block my mom gave us snugged up to another Dollar Tree gnome! I always grab jolly paper coffee cups when I can, these are from Walmart.
This hot chocolate station adds such a festive vibe to our kitchen and is a fun treat for everyone that hangs out in our house. We’ve already had a girl’s Bible study and multiple friends use it this season. I hope I have to restock it 100 times!!! Let me know what kind of goodies you like to add to your drink bar, we don’t want to miss out on the good stuff!
Don’t forget to pin this cuteness before you go! Merry Christmas Friend. xoxo

your hot chocolate bar is very festive and so well decorated and looks like your kids are really enjoying themselves at the hot chocolate bar. :}
Was unable to read your framed saying that you have on the upper tier.
I guess every Dollar Tree is different cause I haven’t seen them peppermint spoons here.
Enjoy your day, have a wonderful weekend and Happy Holidays to you and your family.
