Ah the tween years. That in between stage of still playing with dolls, but over the Disney princesses. She is starting to be nose down into her ipod and having a blast with our instagram summer fun project. It is an exciting age. Decorating for this transition age was exciting too. I really wanted her room to be her comfy space, her personality and her haven. I think it turned out very "Mae". In spite of her wanting green walls we decided on a neutral Sherwin Williams Mindful Grey as a ... continue reading...

Recycled Mailbox – A Start to Organizing For Fall
Recycled Mailbox Sorter Updated with Hardware My back to school organizing mode has kicked into full swing though! So much to do...school supplies, clothes, event and activity planning. I have a few projects I will be sharing over the coming weeks to help you get organized, of course in a junky fun way. This mailbox makeover came to life because I always feel like I am leaving something at the back door for someone to swing by and pick up. Under the mat is so 2014. I wanted something unique ... continue reading...
Hunt & Host Home Tour: White Vintage Bathroom
This sweet little room all started with a light fixture. I found it a Lowe's and it was the first thing I bought in our renovation story. One tip that I think equals success in decorating is having a jumping off point. A piece of inspiration if you will. I find it unbearably hard to start decorating a room with a clean slate and no vision. It's impossible really. You will never be happy with the results if you don't have direction. For me it can be something small like a pillow or a theme. ... continue reading...
The Best Coconut Cake EVER!
I told you last week I would be reliving the past a little this month. Last week was my Grandfather's birthday and tomorrow is my Granny's! My Granny could smooth burn up a kitchen. She was an amazing cook, good old comfort food was her specialty. It was just the food of her day. As a child I remember her always in the kitchen. I don't really remember her in any other room of her own house. Unless the backyard garden counts. She had an amazing garden. It sprawled down the slightly sloping hill ... continue reading...
Hunt & Host Home Tour: Boy’s Bathroom
My boy's bathroom. Usually a boy bathroom is not much to speak of. Let's face it, young boys can be a mess. Mine are no exception, but I love their bathroom so much that I can walk through it and not get bothered by the towels on the floor and the missed toilet now and then. This bathroom was at one time, long ago, the master bath. Therefore it is larger than most secondary bathrooms you would find in a 1951 ranch. One of the things that had me drooling when we originally walked ... continue reading...
Grandaddy’s Cucumber Salad
I hope you will go along with me over the next few weeks as I reminisce about my grandparents, their home on the Outer Banks of North Carolina and ask for your prayers as I prepare for a few upcoming events. This summer my family has been blessed to have an extended vacation in North Carolina. It has been nothing short of wonderful. We have played, relaxed, explored and just enjoyed a slower pace of life. Therefore, you will likely see glimmers of our vacay on the blog! Like... these amazing ... continue reading...
Hunt & Host Home Tour: Vintage Sports Boy’s Bedroom
I can't wait to share my youngest son's room with you. A few things about this part of the house...I cleaned up, but by no means are these rooms "magazine ready". I wanted to show what we really live like, minus a little clutter. ;) Given the fact that I love to decorate, I really want each child's room to be their own and express who they are. Like I have said before, I think it is important that everyone in the family feels at home in some space in the house. So, the kid's rooms are real, they ... continue reading...
