For a while now I have been wanting to share with you some of the spots I "hang out" either in the real or virtual world. Writing a blog causes me to wander around and network a bunch in my little corner of the web. I always appreciate when someone weeds through and filters things down for me, so this is the place where I do that for YOU! I'm not sure I will have a hang out edition every week, but more when the mood strikes me. I hope you enjoy these things as much as I do! This week ... continue reading...

Old Fashioned, Plus a Deal
They just don't make things like they used to. This thought sifts through my mind as I sift through flea markets and antique stores. This completely true observation has to be one of the main reasons I like old stuff. Things were built better in the past. With more care, built to last, often handmade and out of quality materials. Nowadays things are driven by quantity and cost. That works for some stuff. But other things just don't ring true with this M.O. I often wish I lived in the ... continue reading...
Choosing Fabric Online
Tips for choosing fabric online I have these two wing back chairs. I love them. I bought them at a garage sale over ten years ago. The have traveled across the country and spent time in a variety of rooms in our house. They are well loved and overly worn. My sweet dog called them home. In his old age he would sit in them and lick the fabric. Nothing was on it. It's just what he did. He was 17 after all. Totally gross. Now that he has passed away it was time to give these chairs a face ... continue reading...
A European Cottage Home Tour
I love the way the path of life weaves and winds. Especially when paths separate and then come back together. Those are some of my favorite stories. Like the story of my friendship with Ulrike. We worked together after collage...about 17 years ago. We were casual work friends. I always enjoyed her crisp whit and intelligent ways. Girlfriend is smart, organized and on the ball. My kind of lady. We went separate ways as life moved on and it's fair to say that while we ... continue reading...

Hunt & Host Home Tour: Swimming Pool, Pool House & Back Yard
Swamp to backyard oasis: ok guys! Welcome to our backyard. Be prepared. There was a swamp here. No Photoshop editing, it was really this bad. I have lots of pictures to share today. I just remember the layers and layers we went through to get the junk out of the yard. We unearthed skillets, clothes, pots, random metal and trash, you name it. Buried under layers of vines and overgrowth was this amazing back yard. We still aren't' finished and I am not sure we ... continue reading...

Hunt & Host Home Tour: Curb Appeal Transformation
Curb Appeal. It's a real thing. This house had none. It was overgrown and in major disarray. Especially to two people who owned a landscape construction company. Honestly the yard didn't scare us too much. It was the one thing we knew we could fix. The rest of the house was a little more intimidating. This house is nestled on about 1.5 acres taking up 8 city lots. It is less than a mile from downtown. We hit the jackpot on lot size I would say. I love how our house sits ... continue reading...
