Welcome to the kickoff week of Women and their gifts. I hope you will take a minute to sit down and just listen to some girls chit chat each week about their gifts. It is a fun series to help point out that we are all gifted in unique ways, how we can use those gifts and the blessings that follow. Watch the video for more info and an invitation!

Hospitality: Hunting Party
I thought I would share some pictures from my son’s birthday party back in November for a glimpse of how my party brain works. Sadler loves all things camo and wanted a home party where he and his friends could shoot nerf guns. Luckily we had some huge cardboard boxes left from a recent purchase. The boards served as canvases as I painted all the wildlife animals he could think of to hunt. Hidden animal “targets” littered the back yard. Target had some great, inexpensive sets of nerf guns for the kiddos. A hunting they went. Little camouflage painted faces darted around our house leaving a trail of giggles and Styrofoam bullets as they went. This was my littles’ favorite part of the party and mine too.
Food was easy. I set up the famous chip buffet plus some grapes and oranges. Done. Oh, for bowls I cut brown paper grocery bags down, painted some camo on them and filled with chips. I also used some mismatched silver of mine just to make me happy. At the request of the birthday boy I made a camo cake. The inside was camo too. It was super cute. For the gift and favor table we pulled out our handy plastic craft table. I highly recommend owning one of these for random moments like this when you need extra space. I didn’t however have a tablecloth on hand and this plastic top is UGLY. Improvising, I just ripped up some brown paper bags and painted a little camo on them. Taped them to the table and…makeshift tablecloth complete. Plus it doesn’t blow away! We had a bucket on hand to bob for apples. Sadler’s birthday is in the height of Fall and it just seems right to have an apple bob. His friends love it and ask for it every year. Mom swooped in for the rescue with adorable homemade snack bags sewn out of camo fabric, including pink camo for the girls. Each snack bag was filled with homemade trail mix as a parting gift. Easy on me, probably not as easy on mom. Party tip here! Recruit helpers. It makes it less stressful for you. Everything I used to decorate with I had on hand at home. Nothing was over complicated, my husband didn’t have to run to the store ten times and I enjoyed my son’s celebration as much as he did. Overall it was an inexpensive home party that anyone can duplicate. I call that a success. Happy hunting.
