As many of you may know, I recently did a mini-bedroom makeover. I put up some floral wallpaper and some bead board wallpaper, which totally changed the vibe of my room from drab to cozy english garden. But in my vision of cozy english garden, there were no lamps, only wall sconces– is that normal? Who cares, haha!
So, to that effect, I had to find the PERFECT wall sconce to go in my bedroom, but I also am not an electrician (obviously), and therefore do not know a thing about hard-wiring, and didn’t want to pay someone to do it for that matter.
Did you know they have plug-in wall sconces? Well, if you didn’t, you do now– and let me tell you, they are AAA-mazing! So easy to install, and they reallllyyyy stepped up the game in my room!
Now, don’t get me wrong, I love me a good lamp, truly– I think they can totally alter a room, they’re helpful, and just overall I have nothing against them. I just think that in bedrooms, wall sconces are kind of the new “it” thing! I also love that the light is over me in the bed now, making it sooo easy to read a nice book or get in a bible session right before going to sleep!
All of this to say, sconces are great for the bedroom, and they really aren’t as hard as they may seem to put in, the plug-in kind anyway!

Thank yo so much. I just bought 2 antique chandeliers and had them installed over my bed side tables to use instead of lamps. I’ve been so worried that I had made a huge mistake until I read your article. You’re amazing!

If you can find Cord Covers they would “hide” the cords, blending them into the beadboard background. Just a suggestion. So many of us aren’t electricians so it’s nice to have an option.
