This seashell jewelry DIY makes the perfect vacation memory souvenir necklace
We had an amazing time on our Mexico beach vacation last summer. The kids and I got sunkissed while combing through the sand for the tiniest seashells, hermit crabs and coral. I always like to bring home a bit of nature from our vacation whenever it’s possible and allowed. Here are some of the tiny shells we collected…
Maybe you have a stash or seashells begging to be displayed too or a little jar of beach sand? For this first souvenir craft I made some simple seashell jewelry for my kiddos. They all love a good necklace and instead of buying generic ones at the souvenir shop I made ours with things WE FOUND together.
These little glass jars, necklace cord where just a few bucks at the craft store. I’ve added a supply list at the bottom of this post if you just want to shop online for the exact items. Simply fill your little jars with tiny shells or even beach sand. I sealed them shut with a dab of super glue for safe keeping then used a slide knot to make an adjustable length necklace. The necklace I linked to below already has a clasp and I wish I would have used that one, but be sure the end of the necklace will fit through the eye hole of whatever bottle you choose! Much easier! Precious for boys and girls, young or old.
This little souvenir craft is way more memorable than anything you can buy ready made and the whole family can even sit down together post vacation to create a bunch of these memories in a bottle! Just be sure to look for little things you can bottle up on your upcoming vacation to recreate your own vacation souvenir! You are a girl after my own heart! My most treasured things are nature things found on a special vacations whether it is wool I cut off a sheep in Scotland, a heart rock from Lake Tahoe, sea glass from Sicily, shells from Costa Rica, rocks from most everywhere, dried moss from forests, interesting driftwood, pressed flowers, photographs taken turned into art, etc, etc, Why spend money on things that lose their value…..instead, these become more meaningful through the years because I lovingly collected these “free” souveniers!
