I’m over the moon to share the best paint for your RV PLUS my RV reveal! This project has been a long time coming and I’m here to answer all your questions about painting you camper! I hope this makeover inspires you, it certainly has been a special project for me and my family! I want to thank Beyond Paint for sponsoring this RV paint project, all ideas and opinions are my own
I have been wanting an RV for quite some time now, and as a matter of fact, you may have heard me say this before, but I booked a camping spot before I ever even had the RV! I just wanted to push myself to make it happen after months of thinking about it and searching, it did! The heavens shined down on the perfect little RV for my family, straight from Facebook Marketplace believe it or not! So many things about this RV were absolutely amazing for my family, and for the most part, it was just what I was looking for in an RV– except for some minor cosmetics!
the best paint for an RV
This RV came as many do, brown everywhere, and just kind of your typical run of the mill look! Don’t get me wrong, I love brown, but I really wanted to liven this space up some, make it more “me!” The brown had to go, which meant I needed paint– and that opened up even more questions like, “what paint is the best,” “will paint ruin the RV in any way,” and the honest question of “do I have time for a paint project?” Lucky for you, I figured all of this out, and found the BEST option, Beyond Paint!
Beyond Paint works on almost any surface you decide to use it on and is a primer, bonder, and sealer all-in-one, which makes your job wayyyy easier! You will likely want to use a few coats, but overall an easy process!
Now that I figured out WHAT paint I was going to use, I had to figure out the colors I wanted to bring in! On a thrifting trip before getting the RV, I found this sweet little cross stitch landscape art and I just fell in love with it! Once I had the RV, I knew I wanted that landscape to be my jumping off point for the ENTIRE RV!
This little landscape had vibrant, cozy colors that immediately made me feel at home, just like how I wanted the RV to feel! Like a home away from home! After lots of contemplation, I chose to go with Forest Green and Off White! I felt these colors would not only bring the comfort and coziness I wanted and family needed, but would also brighten up this once dull space. It really felt like a nice mix of feminine and masculine, which was important because I have two boys and wanted them to feel at home in our space!
As a total side note, did you notice the gorgeous bedding on the big bed (It’s on the small beds, too, you may have not seen it yet, though)?? Well it’s not your average run-of-the-mill comforter, it’s Beddy’s– and you need to check that out too (after you hear about this amazing paint)!
Believe it or not, painting this RV was not as bad as you’d think! Yes– it needed a couple of coats, but throw on some music and your big girl pants, and get to work! This paint goes on so smooth, doesn’t streak, and has great coverage! It’s honestly a dream compared to other paints I’ve used before, truly!
Immediately, it felt bigger and brighter, and I just fell in love! I thought the green on the kitchen cabinets would contrast nicely between the white everywhere else– plus I just love any shade of green!
I haven’t done anything with the fridge yet, mostly because I haven’t decided what I WANT to do there yet! I could paint it with chalkboard paint, I could simply just paint it, or I’ve even considered collecting stickers on our travels and covering it with all of our places we’ve seen!! I think that’s my favorite idea, but it’s also one that may take a while! Honestly, some decisions you have to wait on and allow the perfect choice to come to you!!
The little kitchen area looked manufacture-grade and a little dingy.
But with the help of a little paint, some sweet decor, and the help from my Mom to make new cushion covers and blind covers, it’s one of my favorite spaces! I still want to make over the table, but once again, haven’t landed on the perfect makeover option yet. Time will tell on this one!
If you know me, you know I always love to say “done is better than perfect,” and I wholeheartedly believe that! I didn’t sweat the small stuff– this place feels like a tiny home away from home, and I don’t think a couple paint drips or scratches will change that feeling!
should i paint my rv?
Now, let’s talk about the part you’re probably all wondering about– will this affect resale value of my Camper? Here’s the honest truth… I don’t know! What I do know, is we can’t always be looking too far ahead to enjoy the present. For me, this camper needed to feel like MY space, like a place my family and I can rest our heads at night, and feel safe and comfortable! No matter what this paint does to the resale value, I am using it right now, my family is vacationing in it, and I want to enjoy it the MOST I absolutely can! It may seem silly to some, but paint did that for me. This small little space feels like a home to me and my family now, and no resale value can top that! It’s honestly the same as a home– can you ever fully enjoy your home if you’re thinking about resale value from the moment you move in!? Paint colors in all the rooms, holes in the walls from family photos, markings on the walls from moving your furniture around for the 15th time, or the scratch marks on the stairs from your cat laying there all day– those make your house a home, just like this paint and these photos make this RV a home.
I can’t tell you what you should do, I can only tell you what I think, and that is to live in the present, and let future you figure out the hard stuff!
where can i find this paint?
Lastly, you may be wondering, “where can I find this magical paint?” The good news– it’s easy! Beyond Paint has a locator, and you just enter your location, and it tells you all the best places you can grab a can near you! You can also order directly from the website, here!
what are you waiting for?
Well…..? Go grab your favorite colors and get started!!!!

Your RV is awesome! I think the table looks fine. Maybe just paint the legs? And you should collect refrigerator magnets. You could collect them to put on a magnetic board and wouldn’t have the hassle of removing at a later point. Enjoy your travels!

Thank you so much Barb! I do love that idea, I just hate how long it would take to really get a collection going, haha!

Oh my Kim, I love everything that you have done to your family RV!! If I were looking to buy one and I ran across yours, I would be thrilled! I agree with you, we have to live in the present. Our tomorrows aren’t even promised. Enjoy the blessings that we have been given. You’re making some wonderful memories that will live in your children’s minds forever. I have followed you for YEARS. I literally cried when you shared your devastating news but now I REJOICE to see you come into your own. I love seeing you grow as a woman of faith but also as an independent woman. A capable, smart, beautiful, honest, courageous mama who is living a real life. I’ve paired down who gets into my inbox because I have been so overwhelmed. But I have kept you through name changes and all. Even if I don’t leave comments very often, know that there are silent supporters out there cheering you on!!!

This means so much Julia– I seriously almost cried! Thank you, more than you will ever know!

My sentiments exactly Julia. So proud of you and what you’ve accomplished for yourself and your kids. It al looks so cute. We have a fifth wheel camper that sits on a permanent spot in a campground. We’ve had it there for 20 years. Next to a river in North Carolina mountains. We love it! I’ve done a little painting and upgrades but my husband doesn’t want me to paint the cabinets . At least they aren’t dark. I have the same problem at home . Enjoy this time of life!!
Kim at Salvaged Living says
Thank you sweet Susan! How amazing that you have a camper, too! They really are the best– painted or not!❤️

You probably increased the value of your trailer by refreshing it! How about a piece of peel and stick wall paper for that refrigerator door and then let the magnets arrive as the travels come. They have so many types of wall paper, I am sure You can find something that blends in with your style. Love the tranquil feel.

great idea!!!! thank you so much Victoria!
