There’s nothing I love more than being outside in Summer! Yes, it’s hot, maybe even a little miserable– especially here in Texas, but truly it is just SO beautiful, I can’t resist! Now, I don’t know about you, but I don’t live on a lake or anything, or by the ocean, or even have a pool– so I’ve had to curate my own little oasis, make my own beauty! I wanted to be able to step outside, feel the sun on my face, and for it to be an escape of sorts! Personally, I feel like I’ve accomplished that, and I wanted to share my summer backyard tour with you– maybe it’ll inspire you to give your own backyard a little love, and make it something YOU love!
Not only is this a space I personally want to be able to enjoy, but I want family and friends to be able to come out and enjoy it, too! So I try to make sure I’ve got plenty of space and seating for all of my favorite people!
Between the table and seating on the patio, and the seating out by the outdoor kitchen, I think we’ve got it covered!
Plus, we can always gather around this fire pit if need be– without the fire of course!!! It’ll be a while before we need to light that baby up!
So there is the functionality of the backyard– plenty of places to sit and hang out, maybe even drink some cold sweet tea or iced water! But I also didn’t want to feel like I was in a “concrete jungle” and well, reality of it is, I kind of am! I live in a normal neighborhood in my small, cozy town, and I think most backyards around here are likely your run-of-the-mill concrete patio with plain grass yard! Maybe a few pools sprinkled in, and oh how I wouldn’t mind that in these hot months! We actually did have a pool at our old house– and a backyard I loved, too! Even though I miss that house sometimes, I know I’m where I’m supposed to be!
But truly, the greenery hits the spot for me! Something about these plants just breathes so much life into my world (not only literally, but figuratively, too)! I have all different types of plants out back, and I love to spend time watering them and just taking it all in! Nothing better than coffee, birds, and flowers in full bloom to get your day started!
My sunflowers may be my favorite, but don’t tell the others… haha!
My favorite thing about all of this, especially the sunflowers, is that I kind bring the beauty inside, too!
I just cut a couple flowers every now and then, and then I can make my own little arrangement! Bringing the outside in and the inside out is the best– making it all one cohesive space!
Anyway, I hope this encourages you to not only spend some time outside this Summer, getting some Vitamin D, but also to make it a space you WANT to spend time in, and love!
And that your friends and family will love too, even if it’s just because you’re there!
Happy Summer!!!
