We’ve always heard, “where there’s a will, there’s a way,” right!? I have and always will firmly believe that! And my mission has always been to use, repurpose, recycle, upcycle, reuse, whatever you want to call it. I don’t like the idea of throwing things away or wasting them when I KNOW I can breathe new life into them! And honestly, it’s not even really because I’m a “save the planet” kind of person (granted, I’m not against it either– I understand the movement), I just like to save money when and where I can, and avoid waste when and where I can! With that said, all those boxes we all get day in and day out (cough, cough, amazon) can have a larger purpose, and serve you well in the process. It’s not as hard as you think to repurpose cardboard boxes for simple farmhouse decor, and I’m about to show you how!
what you need
- Corrugated cardboard (that’s a given, right)
- Scissors
- Mod Podge
- Paper or material of your choice (cloth, napkins, book pages, paper, wrapping paper)
- Magnet backing
- Stamp
let’s repurpose cardboard boxes into farmhouse decor
- Cut Corrugated cardboard into smaller sizes. I went with a rectangle shape and mine are about 2×3 inches, but you can do whatever size works for you!
- Rip and expose some of the corrugation to give it a more worn, rustic vibe.
- Use mod podge to adhere a book page, napkin, or whatever your paper choice is. I used a book page and napkins on mine!
- Cut a small piece of cloth to put on top (you could also use plain paper here if you don’t have cloth).
- Stamp whatever message or text you’d like onto your cloth.
- Attach the magnet backing. Mine already had adhesive on them, but if yours don’t you can hot glue it on!
It really is as easy as that!
You can use these magnets to organize, leave fun, encouraging messages for family members, or even hang up your child’s artwork on the fridge (which would definitely be my choice if my kids still made me artwork)!
And since these are so budget-friendly, you can always make new ones and change it up!
