Nice Words Or No Words

It’s summer time and that means one thing at our house.

Sibling rivalry is full blown.

I am not sure I will ever understand the extent of ugliness that can spew out of their mouths towards each other and then, within minutes, they would take a bullet for one another. My sisters are much older than me and we didn’t really grow up in the same house together so this sibling banter is totally new to me. My little darlings really are sweet, but they save a special tone and temper reserved especially for their threesome. This mama does her best to reign it in.

The phrase “If you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all” is just to long and cumbersome to roll off your tongue every five minutes. So I shortened it.

Nice words or no words. My kids know the phrase well. We’ve worn it in like a good pair of jeans. For extra measure I posted it on a pillow then put it flat center on the couch they call home.

Now all I have to say is, “refer to the pillow” when they get saucy with each other.

It actually works for a few minutes. I thought ya’ll might need an extra measure of sassy tone abatement at your house too (at least I hope I’m not alone in this situation?).
