We have a winner…our new neutral rug came in and we love it! You guys have been so sweet to share your thoughts and ideas on which rug would fit our space best! We chose the Vizier Area Jute Rug to replace the shedding, matted trampled on rug we had before. I am so grateful to Home Decorators Collection for sponsoring this rug journey. They provided the rug, I am providing the feedback! Please know all selections and opinions are 100% my own! SO MANY of you thought that B (the damask rug) would be a good fit for my style and I agree. I just decided to go with a more neutral rug that I can layer. I’m thinking the Damask one might have to find another room in my house to call home. I could use more than one new rug around here. 🙂
I had a sweet group of bible study ladies over when the knock at the door came delivering our new rug. They helped me drag it in and after they left I felt like a kid at Christmas unwrapping that thing! Once I knew a new rug was coming I could hardly wait.
As you are well aware I love to thrift for all kinds of home décor and I have searched high and low for a new rug. They are hard to come by at garage sales and thrift store. Most of the time the ones you see are soooo outdated or have pet stains and funny odors. That’s why I believe rugs are one of the few things you have to break down and buy new. They make such a dramatic difference in a room and are often overlooked in decorating. They can be costly, but with so many online choices you can catch a sale and even free shipping almost any day.
When I ordered my rug I went ahead and got this rug pad, I haven’t used one before. Rugs cost enough as it is and I haven’t ever felt certain about the added cost. Let me tell you, I am so glad I got it.
Jute rugs aren’t always the softest rugs around, but the rug pad genuinely makes it cushier to walk on, if that is even a word! I read up a little on rug pads and besides adding protection to my wood floors and slip resistance the rug pad can actually make your rug easier to vacuum! I didn’t know that, but it totally makes sense. The air can suck under the rug. I’m all for anything that will make stuff last longer and clean easier! Added bonus, the packaging makes a great cat toy…
If you are looking to update a room in your house you might consider starting from the bottom up. You can check out the rugs I deliberated over before selecting this one…here. Thanks for helping me choose a rug that we can live life on, can move to any room in our house and gives me another decorating adventure as I hunt for a small rug to layer on top!
