Men’s Neckties Into Fall Wreath Tutorial
Your eyeballs are about to be floating in Fall craftiness.
Seriously.
I’m joining up with 31 other bloggers to bring you the best fresh new ideas for Fall. You are going to want to get your decorating on this weekend! Knowing the immense creative talent that would be flowing this week I had to get my game face on.
I have a thing for masculine fabrics…houndstooth, plaid, suit fabric. But men’s necktie’s really intrigue me. The old school wide ones with bold patterns and colors are so cool. You can find them all the time at thrift stores and garage sales, often they are only 25¢ to $1. I picked up a handful of them in coordinating Fall colors this summer. Not sure what I’d do with them, but drawn to them just the same.
The neckties ended up coming together in a vintage gypsy necktie wreath.
I simply ripped apart and cut up the various ties I had collected. Most of the old ones where lined with an incredible cream muslin lining that I used as well. Next, I wrapped the ties in varying lengths and widths around a grapevine wreath bought at Michael’s. For added texture, I threw in some wired ribbon that has good movement and body to it, plus a hint of glimmery gold. Some yarn laced with wooden beads adds to the boho gypsy feel. BTW – if you love a good upcycled project, then let’s be friends! Just tell me where and I will send you fun projects, home decor tips, and DIY ideas. Plus I’ll start you off with a free printable. I’d really love to have you. 🙂
The form you have selected does not exist.
The insides from the neckties was the perfect material to make flower rosettes. The tutorial here is the one I used to make this precious flower. Next time you see those out of date wide ties, scoop up a handful and put them to use! You could use different color schemes to match any holiday or décor. If you happen to have a ton of extra buttons laying around I have the perfect fall upcycle for you too, check it out here!
Now HURRY and check out these other original, new, never seen before Fall ideas! #fallideastour
