You can totally use dollar store supplies to create this Midas Mansion tablescape. You don’t even have to follow my theme for Halloween, but take some fun ideas and make them your own. We absolutely love to sit down at a decorated table – it makes the holiday season so much more fun don’t ya think?
I’m gonna show you how to make the coolest – and cheapest- placemats for your Halloween table! Grab a felt cut out from your dollar store, mine had this wreath looking thing and it worked perfect. I took out the skeleton center and used just the outside ring. Cut down wrapping paper or kraft paper into placemat sizes. Make sure your felt piece fits on it! You may need to cut it larger than normal.
Lay the felt on the placemat and spray with black spray paint, make sure to get the edges of the felt good to really make the shapes pop. I sprayed over the black paint with gold immediately in the center, on the edges and overlapped some spots for a marbled, muddled look. The wet paints blended beautifully. You could use any color scheme you have going on for this and make as many placemats as you want!
I kept with my haunted Midas Mansion theme and spray painted dollar store buckets, vases and skulls gold. If you missed the matching Midas mantel Halloween decor check it out HERE.
I completely scored when I found Medusa snake headbands at the 99 Cent Only store! They became my inspiration for these tables. Nothing like a stewing brew of snakes to conjure up the Midas touch right!? To make the centerpieces I stuff the pots with extra plastic bags and then used dollar store gold napkins crumbled up as the filling.
I spray painted cheap Halloween web gold and used it as smoke. Finally I weaved in some gold tulle for fun. I found it at Walmart. The snake headband can either rest on the edge of your pot or I painted a styrofoam pumpkin gold and stuck it on there!
Each table got a little supply of “ingredients” vintage bottles filled with dollar store bugs and gold gumballs.
I love to mix in some of my vintage wares for an aged feel, old candelabras always do the trick!
You can have so much fun taking dollar store finds up a notch to create an elegant Halloween tablescape that doesn’t have to cost a fortune! Just look trough the whole store and see what you can make work. Plus a theme never hurts to keep you on track and inspired! I hope I helped you get some fun ideas for your Halloween tablescape decorating adventures this year.
