Have you seen the movie I Can Only Imagine about the Christian band Mercy Me’s lead singer Bart Millard? Y’all. You need to see it. I took my daughter and then the next week picked my son up early from school for a date to go watch it (shhhh, don’t tell). Mercy Me is one of my very favorite bands and once I saw this movie I loved them even more. I want to thank Frontgate Media for the opportunity to review the material discussed here.
My birthday is a week before Christmas and in 2016 I bought tickets to a Mercy Me concert for my husband and I as a gift to myself. I adore them. Going to a concert is always a fun way to learn more about your favorite artist and this Christmas concert didn’t disappoint. We learned stories behind the songs and Bart really revealed himself as he shared the unedited version of his life. He told us a movie was coming and I knew it would be on my must see list.
Bart’s story is a first hand look at redemption and the radical transformation that Jesus’ love brings. I too know this journey firsthand, while my story is drastically different from Bart’s (my childhood was very different from his) my personal walk is exactly the same. Change in places I never dreamed. Proof of God’s mercy and forgiveness flow throughout my life. When that happens, you want the world to know to love you’ve experienced. I am so grateful for the incredible talent God gifted Bart and his bandmates with, their courage to share it and the boldness to which they praise His name.
The most exciting news is the story doesn’t end with the movie. If you are looking for a beautiful bible study to do as a group or alone then you will want to check out the I Can Only Imagine Study Journal (AND I have a coupon code for you – woot woot, you know I love a deal! See below). The study is a guide full of scripture, questions and lessons that walks through four main characteristics present in the story of Bart’s life and present in the gospel. Imagine approval instead of rejection, imagine forgiveness over guilt, imagine brokenness eradicated and redemption in its place and imagine life eternal verses a finite death.
You can also get a really cool embossed leather journal for jotting down your thoughts and there is a four part DVD with interviews from Bart himself. Each DVD chapter correlates to the study journal and Bart gives more background and personal view on the amazing transformation he was witness to. (Just a personal thought – this would make a great Father’s Day gift!) I love how down to Earth and relatable he is!
This movie and study are full of hope, full of redemption and because the story is true you will easily be able to slip your life into the shadows of this account. There is nothing better than God’s word, but watching it lived out is truly transformational. If you would like to get a copy for yourself or your small group you can purchase the I Can Only Imagine Series here ( use coupon code frontgate10 for a 10% discount!) and you can enter to win a free copy here! (BTW – If you haven’t seen the movie you can order it here (affiliate link)) Most of all I hope you will be encouraged to seek community, study God’s word and share your life. You will never regret it! Blessings friends!
