You know that saying… “Life is too short, eat the dang cookie?” It’s REALLY easy to forget that, even for me. I sometimes start to get caught up in the little things, and I just need to be pointed back in the right direction, a nudge if you will. And I think you need it too, I mean we all do at some point. I’ve heard (probably more times than I can count), “I just can’t hang that, what if I mess up?” or “What if I don’t like that in a couple years?” and a million and one excuses under the sun… all people justifying WHY they can’t hang their favorite photo, or new artwork, or thrifted plate. And I’m here to tell you, remind you, nudge you: Life is too short, HANG THE DANG PICTURE (or whatever it is you’ve been thinking about hanging)! And not only I am here to give you that nugget of encouragement, but I’m also going to show you how to easily fill nail holes in your wall! No excuses anymore my friend, you’re on the hook!! And it’s probably way easier than you think… just stick around for a minute.
what you’ll need to fill nail holes
- a tool that makes nail removal easy– I’ve found the Hammer Fist to be the BEST one out there (and I’ve done this quite a bit)
- spackling– I linked the one I used HERE, but any spackling should work!
- matching paint
I mean seriously you guys… THREE things have been holding you back from having the cozy nook of your dreams, or hanging your kids graduation photos. And maybe you DO hang things in your home, but it’s always been considered a job for the husband to do. That’s amazing if you have a husband around to do the work for you, I’m ALL for teamwork. BUT, there are times our husbands are busy, or unexpected things happen where we don’t have the help we once had. We can do all the hard things… and trust me friend, this is NOT a hard thing!!! It’s so nice to take the bull by the horns and do it yourself once in a while!!
how to easily fill nail holes in your wall
- Use the hammer fist to slide the nail out of it’s spot! This tool makes it SO easy!
- Get a little spackling on your finger and push it into the hole, filling it completely, but not over-filling it. You want it flush with the wall. There are spackling spatulas or tools out there you can use, but there’s honestly no need to go out and purchase one for this. Your finger works just fine! You may need to sand afterwards, if the hole is really large or something, but it’s optional!
- Lastly, touch up the paint in that small spot! If you know the color of the wall already, that’s amazing, but if not, you’re still able to complete the process! You have a couple options to color match here, one being to chip off a small piece of paint and take it in for an expert to help. There are also TONS of apps and softwares out there that can help you color match, without even leaving your home!! Or maybe use this hole-filling job as an excuse to repaint and refresh your space, that’s your call!
That’s all there is to it!! Having the right products on hand makes this quick fix doable in only minutes!
It’s as easy as 1…2…3!
And the Hammer fist does even more than just removing nails! It also functions as a mallet, square, ruler, bottle opener, hex driver, and hammer. It does it ALL!! You can read all about it and grab one for yourself right HERE on the Hammer Fist Website, or shop Hammer Fist at HomeDepot.com right HERE!
