Holiday Art – Instant Vintage Holiday

instant vintage holiday art selections huntandhost.net

I held off as long as I could…the kids were chomping at the bit to decorate for Halloween. I made them wait for October 1st. When I was little I was just like them, always anxious to decorate for the upcoming holiday season. Honestly, I still feel the same way, finding time just gets harder as you get older.

When I pull down the boxes of holiday décor, no matter the holiday, it’s always fun to see what’s been hiding away the past year. It feels new each year. I can hardly remember what I had for breakfast, much less what I decorated with a year ago!

Many years ago I decided to add seasonal artwork to my decorating mix.

It’s one of my favorite decisions.

I was a bit younger and didn’t have lots of décor collected yet, this was an easy way to add instant vintage to my holiday stockpile. After scrolling through pages of online art I ordered multiple seasons all at once. Then I hunted around for old picture frames to fit the prints and had them matted and framed.

It wasn’t the cheapest thing I’ve ever done, but they are classic and I use them every single year. They never grow old to me.

I move them around year to year.

If you are looking to add some instant vintage to your holiday line up I went ahead and gathered some Fall holiday favorites below. (Please note these are affiliate links*)

Here is one of the prints I have: Halloween Girl and Jack O Lantern Goblin

This vintage witch and owl pic is a fun one for Halloween:

Sweet hugs for this Halloween Girl and Cat:

I just love this vintage turkey for Thanksgiving:

This turkey on a pumpkin is a little more fun. Poor thing, the silverware hints at it’s fate:

Sweet girl with a stinging prayer: It’s hard to read, but says, “Eat, drink and be merry- tomorrow you may die. Applies to turkeys as well as to you and I.”

This print lends itself to staying up through Christmas. Children watching turkey pen:

Let me know if you have any questions about how to frame and where to use these treasures!

They rejoice in your name all day long; they celebrate your righteousness. Psalm 89:16

I don’t consider myself that old, but I do remember some of those turkey pictures in various homes/antique stores over the years. I love how you mixed and matched them. I’d much rather look at these than the crazy stuff that is out today.

I loved looking at these. I have a vintage skeleton that I bought for my children from the Beistle company on my front door. It looks fantastic. Great ideas and thanks for sharing!
