This is my first month to join up with a fun group of ladies who love to flip some furniture. Each month we have a new theme and it is always great to see how everyone interprets the suggestion into a makeover. Creative minds are so fun.
This month’s theme is Inspired By Chocolate.
I can’t lie. I was stumped.
I like to think I have a few good tricks up my sleeve, but this one got me. Soooo…you’re gonna have to follow me down the rabbit trail of why this piece makes me think of chocolate!
Between the chocolate laden holiday of Valentine’s Day and the Chocolate bunny season we are in both holidays equal love to me. We all know chocolate is the classic gift of love and that is the angle I took.
First off, this little table was given to me by a sweet friend. She actually hit the brakes, turned the car around and pulled it off someone’s trash pile because she knew I’d love it. And I do. And that is nothing but love to trash pick for a friend…so there is reason #1 this piece oozes love to me.
Next, the sweet little sides remind me of harps. That just makes me think of a heartfelt serenade one might give to a special someone.
Third, if I am eating chocolate, there is a good chance it is dark chocolate. Likely with salted caramel inside. So this dreamy black with swirls of gold speak to the dark chocolate lover in me. Like a dainty little gold dusted truffle.

Must mean chocolate is close by.
What do you think? Would you have hit the brakes for this musty, broken coffee table or kept on driving?
Will you please show your love to my creative cohorts and see how chocolate turned their furniture world upside down this month!? If you need a chalky paint tutorial here is mine!

Kim,
I am pea green with envy. I never find anything by the road. And, if I had seen this little table with GREAT bones, I’d have snapped it up in a New York minute. Love the whole makeover, but especially the gold rub to the harps. This would look great in my living room. #justsayin
XOXO,
Susie

That table is gorgeous! So pretty! Love what you did with it! You can really see all of its details now!

Thanks – the gold really does highlight the details of this sweet table!

Loved what you did to the table. It really speaks loudly of love from the Dark Chocolate table to the lyrical harps. And you know–there is edible gold leaf which many great chocolatiers use to dust on their chocolates and truffles!! You are lucky that there are “treasures in the rough” by the curbside near you. All we have are those huge plastic trash cans by the roadside!
Kim at Hunt and Host says
Yes – I was thinking of the gold dust! We have those big plastic cans too, but bulk trash day is a treasure trove 🙂

Trust me I would have braked too…just glad my friend had the eyes and thought to scoop it up!!!
