I never like to spend a ton on decorating, but enjoy having new looks on rotation. This fall table with thrifted and dollar store touches is a great mix of old and new, found and created, and definitely a budget-friendly fall look. I am hopeful you will get a few inspiring ideas from my home to yours!
The creation part of this fall tablescape is this STUNNING table runner. I’m not sure you can guess what it started out as…just try for fun before you read on. 😉
OK – I’ll tell. It was a shower curtain liner from the dollar store! I thought it’d be fun to stencil a gorgeous design and make a shiny, perfect-fit table runner! I used THIS DAMASK STENCIL and THIS CRAFT PAINT to create this stage stealer. It was really easy and I love the fact that the stencil can be used over and over for a ton of spectacular craft ideas. The Damask stencil is a mesh stencil so you get nice crisp lines – so easy to use and amazing results. I highly recommend you try this technique! Here are some tips on using this type of stencil.
The rest of the table is a mix of dollar store and thrifted items! Here is a breakdown of items for you!
Thrifted items: Soup Tureen, Plates, Napkin rings
Dollar Store Items: Faux Wood Chargers, Mercury Glass Looking Leaf Bowls, Tablerunner (shower curtain I crafted up)
The only thing I bought new were the napkins!
I really hope this helps you see how fun it is to gather items at garage sales and thrift stores then layer them all together for a beautiful home on a small budget. I find it so rewarding. If you are new to thrifting or aren’t sure how to/where to/what to do my membership group The Salvaged Society might be a good fit for you. It’s a great group where I take you along with me on thrifting trips and show you what I see, how I buy and give ideas, tips and tricks along the way!
