- Y’all are gonna love this quick and easy Valentine’s Day decor idea made from a few dollar store supplies. Today I only have a video for ya because this project was so fast and I made it up as I went along! I hope you don’t mind – it will only take a minute! I love this idea because it makes a big ole piece of decor that reminds me of a giant Valentine or box of chocolate. Perfect for all your loves on this sweet little holiday! See the mantel I made with these hearts here!
You are going to want to shop your favorite dollar store or discount store for some of those felt decor pieces they have out for the holidays. Try to find one with a cute pattern or phrase cut out of it. While you are there grab a roll of kraft paper – the brown wrapping paper you use for shipping. It needs to be large enough that the felt piece will fit on it. You also need some spray paint, I used black to go with my black and white Valentine’s Day decor, but you might want a different color. I like the matte finish paint. Watch the video for how it all comes together! Don’t forget to share this fun idea with someone you love! XOXO – Kim

Hi Kim,
Love the idea but…
I may be looking at this weird but the writing is backwards from the way I’m looking at it.
Am I seeing it wrong?
Thanks,
Mary

HI Mary – ho, you are seeing it right, it flips when I video and I need to work on changing it! I thought I could while editing, but it wouldn’t let me. I can craft, but girl, technology uggghhhhh! lol! so sorry, but I hope you still get the idea 😉

I love this idea. I’m going to spray mine with a sealer and hang it on the front door. Well, as soon as I make a trip to the dollar store! Or Hobby Lobby. Or check my own craft supplies. LOL.

Super cute! I think I’m going to make one to hang on my laundry room door.
On a somewhat related note, may I ask about your glue gun? I really want to upgrade to a cordless but I’m overwhelmed by the options. What brand/model is yours?
Kim at Salvaged Living says
thank you and of course – here is a link to the one I have. I relly like it and have had no problems. someone said the reviews aren’t great, but I honestly have had no problems so far! https://amzn.to/35XySaT

I LOVE this idea! I’m so into saving precious time ~ can you let me know (by email) which $ Store? I have two relatively near me, but would so appreciate hearing which one so I can skip hunting the aisles at both! (I understand why the actual name isn’t mentioned … hence my request for a personal reply!)
Kim at Salvaged Living says
I mentioned it – I got this one at the 99 Cent Only Store, but saw similar ones at Dollar Tree too! Happy hunting
Kathleen says
Thank you, Kim!!! Guess I missed that specific, but now I’m off to my $ Tree … since “99 Cent Only” is not one of those close to me! I’m betting I’ll find something cute to use, though, even if not the very same as yours!
This is an idea that I’m thinking we can use for other holidays, too ~ so I’ve filed this great little project in my stored emails! (I have tons of stencils I’m reviewing now, cos it’s never too early to work on our local Church’s 2020 Holiday Bazaar!) Thanks for your generosity in sharing your talents!
