Just wait until you see how simple it is to make these easy stuffed carrots for Easter!
Isn’t it absolutely crazy that we can grow big, beautiful fruits and vegetables from tiny little seeds? It’s something I don’t often stop to think about, but if you do, it really is kind of magical. Well, magical is the wrong word… we know how it happens and how it works, but the truth is it’s really a gift from God. When you stop to think about how well-planned these things are, that we can literally GROW new things from something else. He is the perfect planner, the ultimate planner, really. And while I cannot create something as beautiful and amazing as that, I CAN show you how to make easy stuffed carrots for Easter… from PAPER! It’s not a seed, but it’s still a little crazy. Let me tell you how!
supplies to make stuffed carrots from paper
- orange and green paint
- jute twine
- paper (hymnal pages, dictionary pages… your choice)
- scissors
- hot glue
- cardboard
- sponge brush
how to make easy stuffed carrots for easter
- Trace and cut out a carrot on your cardboard. I free-handed but you can use a template if you can find one!
- Wrap jute around your cardboard, spacing it out some and hot-gluing as you go (to hold the jute in place).
- Pour orange paint onto paper plate or flat surface and dip the surface of the cardboard-shaped carrot in.
- Similar to a stamp, you will press this cardboard carrot into your paper. Do this as many times as you’d like, but keep in mind 2 “stamped carrots” really equals one FULL carrot (you’ll see what I mean later).
- While that dries, paint another piece of paper green and cut it in half. Then, make small slits in the paper, without cutting the very end. You want the strips to stay together.
- Cut out your carrot-shaped stamps and glue 2 sides together, which the orange facing out on both sides. Make sure not to glue the center, you need to be able to open the carrot up, like a pocket.
- Use scraps from cutting to stuff your carrot and give it some volume.
- Roll up your green paper about halfway down, and tear it off. Then, messy it up some. I just crumple mine with my hands to give it a bit more volume.
- Now, simply use hot glue to glue the green carrot top inside the carrot and then close up your carrot with the same glue.
- You can TECHNICALLY stop here and use those carrots as bowl filler, but I personally LOVE a good garland. To make these into a garland, I put a dab of hot glue towards the top of the carrot, and laid the jute on top. Once dry, you continue on to the next carrot until you’re done.
This is a really simple DIY, you can’t go wrong! The perfect craft to put on some worship music and spend some time with Jesus. Or even get some TV time in… but be careful. The same way those tiny seeds grow into BIG, beautiful carrots, what we plant in our mind can grow into poisonous thoughts and feelings, that are hard to get out.
Make sure to guard your heart, friend.
