Yard decor can get tacky fast, but this dollar store yard decor idea for Easter is pretty stinkin’ cute. And ridiculously easy! WAIT until you see what the bow is made from! 100% weatherproof yard art for ya right here!
I snagged these plastic eggs at the Dollar Tree and knew I could make them fit my decor style. I love black and white decor, even for Easter (or any holiday really). I took these plastic eggs out back and transformed them in minutes with some spray paint. Already better!
BUT…they needed a little something extra. As I racked my brain about what would make a cute bow AND be weatherproof I came up with a fun and FREE idea. woot woot! I grabbed a variety of plastic shopping bags from the recycle bin and went to work.
Lay a few bags on top of one another. I picked colors that go with my decor, white, black and grey. These bags come in all sorts of colors though, so you should be able to find some that suit your needs easily!
Cut the bags into strips about 1-1.5″ wide, clipping off the top and bottom seam.
Grab a stack of strips (I used about 9 in each bow) and squeeze the end to a point then thread it through the holes in the egg.
Tie it in a knot and trim the bow pieces to equal lengths and fluff. When it gets wet you can always re-fluff the bow!
I decorated the potted plants on our patio with these simple dollar store yard decor eggs. but then I decided….
They were so cute so I stuck them in my inside plants too!
What do you think? Such and affordable project to try, I hope you will! Now run to the Dollar Tree and grab some yard decor before it’s gone! I’d appreciate if you pinned this before you hit the store. 🙂
I seen these at DT but didn’t look twice st them. But these are very cute. Thank you Kim for having me look twice. ????
of course – hope you got some good ideas!
