Make Your Own Jewelry with Dollar Store supplies
Second to hunting out fun thrifted and vintage finds I love a dollar store. I’m a sucker for a deal and the dollar stores are full of them! I truly believe it doesn’t have to cost a fortune to have a beautiful home or wardrobe. There is a time and place to spend and splurge on those kinds of items, but it’s just plain fun to have a good deal mixed in there! This dollar store jewelry idea couldn’t be more simple, you will seriously have a precious necklace in no time! My friends have also come up with some additional accessory ideas from the dollar store so be sure to check them out below, they are such precious ideas!!!
Did you know that the dollar store is a great place for craft supplies? They don’t carry everything but lots of standard craft items are waiting to be found there. I got a bag of wooden beads at the dollar store and have used them on a ton of different little projects (like the dollhouse and cutting board upcycle). For this simple DIY necklace I stained my dollar store wood beads with a rich dark stain. I suggest wearing gloves! I have a box of medical gloves for projects like this. I use a paper towel to add the stain and buff the pieces, it leads to an easy clean up, just toss the gloves and paper towels! When the stain dried I waxed the beads for a finished look.
Next I found a pretty neutral cording, i think at the dollar store, but this might have come from a craft store. Either way it was only a dollar or two. To hold the beads in place along the necklace I double knotted the cord so it wouldn’t slip through the hole and made the necklace long enough to look cute as a statement piece. This simple necklace is a cute way to jazz up a t-shirt and jeans, my go to uniform! You could use colored stain, go lighter or add a pop of color with your cord choice, make it shorter or longer, you have so many choices!

Love your necklace and it definitely doesn’t look like something made from dollar store supplies. Visiting from Talk of the Town.
