Dollar Store Christmas Craft

Dear Dollar Store,

Oh how I love the. Let me craft thy ways.

Do you ever write love letters to the dollar store? No, just me? Well I love to use my creative side and walk the aisle at the Dollar Tree or any other dollar store to see what wonderful crafting adventures I can come up with next. It’s so super fun. Here is my latest for you to try!!!

I saw this cute little elf leg ornament and knew how adorable it would be sticking out of Santa’s sack. You know an elf or two has to fall in on accident, right!? I also adore all the big signs the dollar stores have, but not to use as signs. I like to use them as stencils! To make the perfect Santa’s sack grab a roll of kraft paper while you’re at the dollar store and cut a sack shape large enough to accept whatever “stencil” you find. Double up the paper to cut a front and back piece, so you can stuff your sack.

Lay the stencil down and spray over it with spray paint, make sure to cover the edges good so the outline is nice. I used white and then went back and painted on red letters for a two color effect. You can just spray paint if you want! Make a quick and easy dollar store Christmas craft with cute little elf legs and a DIY Santa sack for a festive wall hanging. Hot glue the front and back together along the edges, leaving an opening at the bottom to stuff. Stuff the sack and glue shut.

Tie off the top of the sack with jute twine or ribbon and add a simple bow. To help the elf legs stay sticking up I made a cut in the back of each leg and inserted a small dowel rod.

Now glue on those cute little elf legs and hang! How fun and easy was that dollar store DIY? Share it with a friend!
