A dollar store carrot never looked so cute! Try this DIY tassel for some fun spring decor.
Shopping at the Dollar Tree is always fun for me, it makes me stretch my brain muscle to come up with crafty decor that looks adorable and not cheap! I think this little craft project turned out super cute and you could make this fun tassel without the carrot if you want a year round decorating item. Just just need a few supplies to get started:

Click the lengths below to order your supplies online, I linked to exactly what I used when able and found some similar items if your dollar store doesn’t have the same stuff as mine!
Old book pages
Acrylic craft paint (I used orange and green)
Sandpaper
Sponge brush
Needle nose pliers
How to Create A Wood Tassel
- Cover your wood cutout with Mod Podge and cut an old book page larger than the piece, adhere the page to the cutout. Allow to dry.
- Trim the old page from your cutout and use sandpaper or an emory board to smooth the edges and make the page fit perfectly.
- Use a dry chip brush, barely get paint on it and dry brush the edges of the cutout to add some color.
- For the tassel – Cut a length of wire to your desired length. Use needle nose pliers to twist the end of your wire into a small ball.
- Thread the wooden beads onto the wire.
- Cut strips of ribbon twice as long as you want the ribbon part of your tassel to hang.
- Wrap the end of the wire (where the beads stop) around the center of the ribbon bunch.
- Fold the ribbon in half and wrap around the “neck” of the ribbon with wire and tie or tighten securely.
- Leave a little bit of wire out and attach your cutout to the wire, tightening with pliers.
- Cover the wire wrap with jute twine if desired.
- Trim your ribbons to equal lengths and you are done!
This cute spring tassel would look cute draped on a coffee table, door know, vignette, hanging from a hutch or lamp or a million other spots in your home. It is so simple to make and no one would guess the main piece came from the dollar store. That’s the best DIY budget project ever. Have a Happy Easter and enjoy. Don’t forget to save this post for next year.
