Make this budget friendly DIY Peep bunny craft for Easter with just a few simple supplies! It doesn’t matter if you love to eat or love to hate these cute little marshmallow bunnies that show up each spring, this is a craft we can all agree to love!
I am totally a team Peeps fan – I don’t think an Easter basket is complete without a crunchy marshmallow bunny inside, but I know the crowd is divided on this subject. It seems like you wither love ’em or hate ’em. How about we make some fun ones to decorate with instead! You guys know I LOVE to work with cardboard and these cardboard peeps are as cute and easy as they come!
Use my free download as a pattern and come up with your very own Easter decor in minutes! There is also a supply list below to help you gather supplies easily.
These little cuties are great for place settings, decorating small Easter vignettes, use them as napkin rings, garland or name tags. I’m sure you can some up with some other simple ideas as well.
To make these peep cutouts grab a stash of cardboard. It doesn’t matter how thick or thin, just use what you have on hand. I like to paint my cardboard first, it is easier than painting the cut out bunnies. Paint both sides if you will be using them in a spot where you see the back.
Use the pattern provided and trace the bunny onto your painted cardboard. Cut them all out.
Use the end of a small paint brush, dipped in brown paint to dot the face on your bunny.
Once the face dries use Glamour Dust in Crystal Ice to add a layer of shimmer like those sugar crystals on the real thing. This is a must do step to make these out of bounds adorable.
If you want to use your little peeps like I did, hot glue a dowel rod to the back and stick them in a small terracotta pot with raffia or Easter basket grass.
