These DIY honeycomb paper pumpkins are the best! You are gonna have so much fun coming up with cute paper combos and fun textures to try out. I’m always up for a good paper craft, make it something out of vintage paper and I’m all in. This honeycomb pattern is easy to create and you can use this technique for a variety of craft and decorating ideas!
How to Make Honeycomb Paper Pumpkins
- Choose some fun papers, vintage is always great! The thicker the paper, the more layers you will need. I used plain white copy paper, sewing patterns, dictionary pages and kraft paper cardstock.
- You will need 12-14 layers of paper for one pumpkin. As I said before, the thicker the paper, the more you need. I used 22 layers for the heavy cardstock and could have used more, it’s not as flexible and giving so it requires more.
- Cut a circle out of your stack of paper layers. You can make small or large pumpkins, the size of your circle determines the size of the pumpkin. These do not need to be perfect, you can actually cut a more oval shape if you want, play around with it!
- Take each layer and fold it in half.
- Run a line of glue across the middle of the folded circle. See picture. I used hot glue so it would dry quickly. Repeat for each circle.
- Now start layering the folded circles on top of each other. You will glue one to the next with two lines of glue across the half circle shape to adhere one folded circle to the next. Line up the straigh edge. See pictures.
- You can trim your layers to be more uniform once glued all together.
- You can also trim out a more “pumpkin” shape, indent the top for the vine and curve the bottom a bit more.
- Once dry, open up the layers into a circle and glue them together! If you want to add a stem, run a line of glue along the straight edge and before it dries, open up the circles around it.
- Add fun touches like paper leaves and twine vines for a sweet little pumpkin patch of your own!
These paper pumpkin cuties look great in a dough bowl or placed around a fall vignette. I’d love to see your versioin of this paper craft!
