DIY Family Wall Calendar

Keep Organized with a DIY Family Wall Calendar

With three active kids, someone always needs to be somewhere sometime. I HAVE to have things written down for them to happen! In our last house, we had a terrific family calendar in the kitchen, but I sold it when we moved. I had to come up with another one stat!Make a DIY family calendar to keep your family schedule organized. Not only does the family calendar keep me organized it helps my husband and kids know what is on the schedule for the coming week. They were asking for a replacement calendar even before I was! Every morning the kids look at the list and know what to expect, what everyone has in the evenings and it serves to remind me when there is crazy hair day at school or the trash needs to go out.Make a DIY family calendar to keep your family schedule organized. This calendar was pretty easy to throw together and you can take these ideas to make yours fit your needs and supplies. I started with a large frame I had from the old house. A thin piece of wood covered in chocolate colored burlap makes a great backdrop for the calendar.Make a DIY family calendar to keep your family schedule organized. I used a bunch of old shutter slats (just like in the last calendar I made!) as mini signs for the days of the week. Using my Cricut machine I cut out vinyl words for the days of the week and put them on the slats.Make a DIY family calendar to keep your family schedule organized. I like to have paper for the calendar days. Heavy cardstock works best, these are standard sheets cut in half. You could definitely go smaller if needed. I found no bleed Sharpies so I can use both sides of the paper. Make a DIY family calendar to keep your family schedule organized. Tiny clothespins make the perfect paper holder and I sewed a pocket to hold extra paper and pens. I used fabric here for a different texture and dimension. You could use paper or a small box attached to the board. I used Gorilla glue to attach the slats to the board, the clothespins to the slats and even glue the pocket to the board. Let it dry overnight!Make a DIY family calendar to keep your family schedule organized. I plan on changing out the top decor seasonally and for fall I made a multilayer bow with fun fall ribbon, gorgeous moss ribbon, a small woodsy garland and a burlap acorn dangling down for fun. The bow is hung on a piece form a broken chair. I save everything, lol!Make a DIY family calendar to keep your family schedule organized. Every Sunday evening I write out our weekly calendar and it helps me prepare for the week ahead. Hope this inspires you to do the same! Blessings friend, Kim
