how to make diy candy corn decor
- Print out my free pattern and cut out the candy corn.
- After cutting, trace it onto cardboard and then cut out the new cardboard candy corn shape.
- I used the template to make small marks on the cardboard indicating where one color stopped and the other began.
- Paint the top piece white/cream and the very bottom piece yellow. I did the front and the back of the cardboard, but it’s up to you. Whether or not you need to probably depends on how you plan to use this.
- I mixed orange with a bit of purple to create a deeper hue of orange for my candy corn, but this step is optional! You can just use orange if you’d like.
- After the front and back are painted, I drew little X’s with my sharpie between the cream and the orange – almost like stitching.
- Then, I mixed yellow and my orangey-purple color and used my round sponge brush to make little polka dots in the yellow section of the candy corn.
- Make small dashes above the yellow section (but in the orange section) as a separator.
- I then used the end of my paintbrush to make small white dots in the orange. All of the decorating on this candy corn is totally up to you! Let your imagination run wild with this!!!
- I used a hole punch at the top and ran jute through so I could hang it on a peg board.
- Lastly. I wrapped some jute around my hand until I had a good amount, and then ran another piece through the center of that- creating a little bow. Again, optional- just a fun little addition I wanted on mine!
It’s so easy to make this little DIY candy corn from cardboard… and extremely easy on the wallet! I hope you enjoy!!
