This DIY Bee pillow is perfect for a classic living room or a special teacher gift
A few weeks ago I showed you all the most precious farmhouse classroom in the world. To say thanks to my son’s teacher for letting me barge in and photograph his room I made him a special pillow with a teacher twist.
This pillow would be perfect for the favorite teacher in your life, but you can also adapt it for classic decor in your home or possibly make a slew for Christmas gifts that look extravagant. I got my pillow cover at IKEA, but you can order them from the supply list I made below.
I used my favorite Bee stencil from A Maker’s Studio. (read up on these amazing products if you want to know more, or contact me and I can fill you in!)
Stenciling something this intricate should be super hard, but it literally takes minutes and looks professional. I used stencil letters to add the letters B is for Bee. Remember these stencils are re-usable, so you can make tons of stuff with them!
For the added luxe gold I used a mixture of gold Mica powder and paste wax, spread over the stencil to highlight the gorgeous bee and a few spots on the wreath. You can also use the metallic emellishing wax that is pre mixed, I just had these products on hand! Remove the stencil and wash it with warm soapy water to remove the wax. When the wax on the pillow dries a little, gently buff it with a soft rag and it will burnish the wax into the design. I would spot clean this type of pillow finish.
I wanted a little more depth so I took a small paint brush and black Rescue Restore Paint and just highlighted the letters, a few spots on the wreath and a few spots on the bee. I feel like this adds so much depth and detail to the pillow. Using pillow covers is my favorite way to build up my decorative pillow collection without taking a ton of space and saving some money. I have a supply of nice down filled pillows that I just change out pillow covers on seasonally or when the mood strikes!
I’d love to talk to you more about A Maker’s Studio products and show you how to use them for your home, business or to sell! Just shoot me a message and let’s chat!

Love this pillow! It would be helpful if the stencil site gave the dimensions of the letters in the stencils. I’m looking for some rather large letters for a sign project. Thanks!
Kim at Hunt and Host says
yes – sorry about that! I can tell you the monogram letters are approx. 2.5 inches tall if that helps, if you want to know about anything specific let me know and I can find our for you!
