Continuing from the Monday theme if inspired by nature I must confess: I have a thing for cotton.
I know it’s all the rage right now. I got my first bunch of it over a year ago. I loved it then and I love it more now.
My friend gave me a fresh bunch just a few days ago.
When I was at her house picking it up I noticed these amazing pea pods littering the yard by her driveway.
She and her neighbor have these crazy big thorned trees known as Jerusalem Trees.
I can promise if you plant on of these babies, your kids WILL NOT be climbing it. The thorns are massive.
Like a looter I scavenged as many pea pods as I could hold.
And I put them all together in the new trough my friend gave me. It’s amazing.
My shell casing bud vases made an appearance again. I never tire of them.
Friends, go out today and put some nature in your house. At least a bud vase full.
It’ll make you smile. I promise.
Bonus if you can find a Jerusalem Trees for a constant reminder of the crown of thorns Jesus selflessly suffered under.

That looks great, Kim. I have a thing for cotton too. Last year I was gifted a bunch of it and stuck it in the mums and my wreath on the front porch. So pretty!

Your arrangement looks amazing! The trough and the use of the shell casings makes for such an interesting arrangement. I’m crazy-nuts for cotton, too, and bought some that Michael’s had last year (the stems are faux, but the bolls are real). I’ve used them in so many different ways. Then, last year on a road trip, I found a beautiful cotton boll wreath in a little country store in Alabama and couldn’t get my money out fast enough!
Aren’t they just the prettiest! I want to grow some just to decorate with!

Kim, I noticed a fence in the background of the earlier article you did in which you painted a roadside bench a beautiful purple. Is the fence on your property and if so did you install it? I would honestly like to know what wood pieces you used in order to put one up for our dogs. I love your artistic talent and biblical references. Sincerely, Linda Waugh
Thanks Linda – that was at our old house and yes we built it, well my husband did lol. I am not sure the details, I don’t have a tutorial on it! I’m sorry 🙁 there are pictures all over the blog though, maybe if you showed the people at the building supply place they could direct you? I know we used to get most materials from McCoy’s if that helps!
