All opinions are mine alone. #DamageFreeHolidayDecor #CommandDoNoHarm #CollectiveBias New houses are supposed to be fun to decorate right? Well last year I was all excited to get my Christmas mantel decor going in our new home, I was feeling falalalalala and festive. The Christmas garland was ready, the stockings needed to be hung, the Christmas record was turning and cheering me on.???? But, I hit the decorating wall of trouble. I hadn’t even thought about the elephant lurking in the room until it was time to decorate the fireplace. ????
This.
Our gorgeous mantel. Made of concrete.
How are you supposed to deck the halls when you can’t stick a nail in them to hang all your pretty things!? Last year I made due with a little tape that I had to re-apply multiple times, but this year I got wise. I found something you need if you don’t want to (or can’t) hammer nails into your mantel. Meet your new best friend, Command® Adjustables™ repositionable 1 lb. hooks and Command® Adjustables™ repositionable 1 lb. clips.
I can’t even explain how super simple it was to add garland to my mantel this year.
Minutes.
Literally.
You can find these super strong holding helpers ????️♀️at Walmart, here is a picture to show you exactly where to find them in the hardware section.. All you have to do is peel and stick them and you can even move them up to three times if your decorative decisiveness is waning. Ask me how I know.???? You can read all the details about them here!
While you are at Walmart, grab this cute flocked garland and stunning jingle bells for next to nothing. I used three Command® Adjustables™ repositionable 1 lb. clips on the ends and in the middle of the mantel to hang my new flocked garland from. Don’t have time to get to the store, click on the image below and order them online! (total side note, isn’t shopping in your jammies the best?)
Next use a Command® Adjustables™ repositionable 1 lb. hook to hang the bells from your mantel – or just about anywhere else. These babies stick to just about everything, like painted, stained or varnished wood, glass, tile, painted cinder block, plaster, metal, and painted wallboard! All so you can decorate damage free. Can I get an Amen?
To round out a super quick, easy and budget friendly mantel make some snowy Christmas trees from cardboard!❄❄ I literally cut up some cardboard boxes and dry brushed acrylic paint on them for a Christmas forest. Use a mixture of light and dark green then lightly brush some white on the edges.
I splatter painted the trees and a big backdrop for snow. It was so fun to fling paint! To hold the trees up I cut a little stand out of cardboard by cutting a strip, folding it and cutting a slit to slide the tree into. Mix in some vintage finials and twinkle lights for a sparkly glow.
It doesn’t have to cost a fortune or take torturing your house to get a gorgeous Christmas mantel glowing on a budget. Tell me, where can you use some easy decoration hanging help? Ever decorated with cardboard for Christmas? There is a first time for everything.

This is where credit is due- not so much to the people who put together a beautiful mantle with items from pottery barn, etc, but the ones that make it from everyday items. This is fantastic!
