The Dollhouse Dressed for Christmas
Well, I kind of made it down to the wire on this one. I really wanted to deck the dollhouse halls, but had a million other things to do. Then a few hours opened up and I was able to spend some time decorating the dollhouse for Christmas. It was so fun. And it filled my heart.
Thank you to Miniatures.com for providing product for this post!
I had ordered some precious Christmas accents from miniatures.com a while back when I was starting the dollhouse renovation (did you see the final reveal, eeekkk!) and pulling them out was like Christmas for me! You can check out their Christmas items here.
I sprinkled in some small wreaths and a tree from the craft store, but made my own little ornaments and tin star.
No Christmas scene would be complete without a nativity scene and this one from miniatures.com is lovely! There are so many pieces, I couldn’t fit them all, so I am going to work on a better way to display them next year. For now I have the main pieces in place.
These Christmas donuts where a must have for our dollhouse home, my boys could win a donut eating contest for sure! How precious are these?
And then there is my baking queen daughter…gingerbread cookies decorated for the occasion. On a homemade cookie sheet (cardboard with foil!)
Some chunky homemade snoflakes complete the kitchen and tree decorations.
There are so many beautiful ways to bring the holidays to a dollhouse and the decorating and takedown go so much faster than the real house! This year I am going to look for some items on sale after the holiday to mix in next year, inexpensive and easy to store…my kind of Christmas decor to buy! There are lots of buying options for your dollhouse and even more if you DIY. I made the pillows, tree skirt and ornaments myself. Hope you can steal some ideas to make your own.
I pray you each have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year – see you then as I work on bringing the rest of this dollhouse to life!

My dollhouse is currently in the basement since it just doesn’t fit anymore in the living room, but I used to decorate it every year with Christmas and Halloween stuff….so much fun!

When my daughter was young we would decorate her doll house every year. I hand painted and we framed all of the little paintings in her house. She would carefully wrap each picture and hang them again. The tree lit up and she stung shiny glass seed beads for garland and larger beads for ornaments. I petite pointed a tree skirt with bears. She love pictures in magazines of fabulous tables piled with food. Sculpy clay had just came out. I made everything from a turkey to salads, buns and a stick of butter, cookies, cakes, candies and drinks. She’s 32 now and you could get empty plates and cups but no food that looked good, nativity scenes were scares, and in the right size was even more scarce. We would decorate one of 5 floors a day. The grand parents lived in the basement and their floor was decorated heavily. I loved those times with her.

this is so sweet, I think once the dollhouse is completely re-done I will move on to making more decorations myself and with my daughter, your stories inspire me!!! I bet your daughter loves those memories too!
