Checkerboard Table Makeover

This post may contain affiliate links.

I found this little side table for $5 at a garage sale. It was originally from Target, not anything old, and it was exactly what I was looking for! We have a fire place in our bedroom and I am working on cozying up the spot a bit. The room still has a ways to go.checkboard table huntandhost.net

I decided a checkerboard would be the perfect detail to add to this treasure.checkboard table huntandhost.net

Today I am linking up with my monthly furniture flipping friends to bring you guys projects that are all about THE DETAILS!checkboard table huntandhost.net

It doesn’t take much to spruce up a tired piece of furniture. Hopefully you’ll look at the pieces around your house you’ve grown weary of and take inspiration from one of my friends to transform it instead of trashing it, or continuing to live with something you don’t love.

The whole table got a chalk paint makeover and light distressing.checkboard table huntandhost.net

I taped off a checkerboard and sponge brushed some black acrylic paint. After it dried completely I distressed the checkerboard too.checkboard table huntandhost.net

Super simple, super fun!checkboard table huntandhost.net

As I took pictures my sweet little friend decided he wanted to model for you all today. Since he fit the color scheme I let 😉

My “outdoor” cat that is never outdoors posed like a professional, I did nothing, he just sat and acted all regal.checkboard table huntandhost.net

This is what the other lazy bum did…checkboard table huntandhost.net

Now I have to come up with some “checkers”…it looks like I have a match waiting. Ideas welcome!

Please visit my friends below and share if you enjoyed this post!

For checkers, why not slice pieces off a small branch and paint red stars and black stars on them. Wood checkers by a fireplace would fit right in.
