I challenged myself to create daily a few months back. Create just for me. That was my goal. and let me tell you, it was good for my soul! I found my footing again, spent some awesome quiet time with the Lord and renewed my spirit. Can journaling really do all that? Why, yes, yes it can. And it did!
Out of time I grew a heart to stay committed to spending time in God’s word first thing every day and then I follow that up by art journaling what I read about. This one two punch helps seal God’s word into my heart and mind.
By marinating on His word, and letting images form as I read, the words become etched in my memory in a different way than when I just read them. Putting those images onto paper reinforces my takeaway.
As I flip through my journal entries I am taken back to the scriptures and reminded of the thoughts, feelings, and lessons God shared with me in our time together.
If you need a fresh take on your quiet time, or just want to add another layer to your walk, please give art journaling a try. For a creative person (which I believe is ALL OF US) this practice is life giving!

Learning and growing in the Lord and my creativity!? What a beautiful combo! I am so thankful we serve a God who meets us right where He created us to be.

Thank you so much for sharing this idea. This is something I will definitely try. Sometimes I struggle remembering the Word and I really want it imprinted into me. Perhaps this will help. Also several years ago you prayed for me. I was overwhelmed taking care of my older sister who was struggling with Parkinson’s Disease.
