Halloween is so fun because there’s absolutely no rules! I usually like to pick a theme and kind of run with that, but you definitely don’t have to! Just do whatever feels FUN and right that year– and you can easily change it up and around next year! I’ve done many tables over the years, and each one holds something a little special for me! The dining room table and breakfast tables are especially fun, and I encourage you to go all in!!
some tables from halloween past
This year I went full on GLAM for Halloween– and I still hold this one close. The deep rich feel, mixed with spooky decor just screams my name!
It feels like you’re about to sit down for dinner right in the heart of Transylvania with a table like this!!
And don’t forget about the small details… those matter!
2. Vintage Farmhouse Halloween
This year I went with more of a vintage vibe! I pictured an old abandoned farmhouse, left in a hurry with the dining room table still set– now overrun with creepy crawly spiders, webs, and giant magical spiders and pumpkins. It’s a crazy place!
This one may be one of my favorites!
This is a year I almost didn’t decorate. The stress of life was getting to me and I felt overwhelmed– decorating was last on my list!! But, I love to make my home fun and cozy for my family, and my daughter LOVES decorations, almost as much as I do. So I just couldn’t ignore decorating all together! With that being said, I only did the table this year, so I went all out!
A can of black spray paint and a dollar store trip will do just the trick!!
You just have to get creative with that you find!!!
And lastly, I added these halloween-themed chair covers I made! C’mon, they’re the cutest!!!! You can see how to make your own right here!
Dollar Store Medusa headbands became my focus for this table as soon as I found them!
It kept with an elegant vibe a mansion would have, but paired with the dark, rich colors, webs, and other small touches, it’s haunted for sure!
I even took this theme into the breakfast room that year– can never have enough, right!?
I kept it really simple this go around, and made some sweet little labels to go along with the witches potions piled up in the center of my table!
Simple is not bad– it can even be good sometimes! It allows you to pay even closer attention to the small details right in front of you!! Don’t overthink it!
6. THIS YEAR!
I haven’t “named” this theme yet, but I’m getting spooky graveyard vibes here– maybe even fortune teller vibes! I’d love to hear what you feel when you see this space!
All I know is, it’s moody, and I love it!!!
Nothing is better or more fun than eating by candlelight– even my kids would agree on that one!!!
Halloween is your one opportunity a year to let the 10 year old inside of you, out, and just do whatever you want! It’s fun, it’s silly, it’s goofy– and that’s why it’s my favorite!
Shirley says
Sorry – but I hate Halloween. Spiritually & biblically I believe we are taught to avoid the demonic not celebrate it. My decor focuses on the Fall theme colors & nature. Providing any opening for Satan & his demons to slip into our family is dangerous. Yet many love playing around with the “fun” of this. I was not allowed to participate in it as a child & hated how this made us different, but now I see the wisdom. For my children we created character costumes from items not involving witches, ghosts, etc. Sorry to preach but scripture tells that “Satan is prowling the earth looking for any opportunity”. I feel he’s becoming stronger in these dark days.
