10 Easy Home Updates for a Big Impact

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I get sick of seeing these extravagant DIYs all the time. Don’t get me wrong, I personally DO some of those DIYs and I think there’s a time and place for them, for sure– but what about the people just looking for an easy update? Or who don’t have the time or money for something BIG right now? Those people need inspo too!!! And honestly, even though I do some of those extravagant DIYs, I’m always here for something easy peasy that will make a big impact in my space. And that’s what I’m going to share with you today– 10 easy home updates for a big impact.

1. Under-cabinet lighting makes ALL the difference in your kitchen (or anywhere you have cabinets really). These lights come with adhesive pieces you simple stick under your cabinet, and the light magnetizes to them. When the lights go out, simple plug them in to charge and them put them back! 2. Peel-and-stick wallpaper is a game-changer and SO easy to do! 3. Cabinet Hardware is way easier to install than anyone gives it credit for. And bonus points if you already have cabinet hardware because then you don’t even have to make new holes, you can just fill the same ones (making sure it’s the same size hardware of course)! 4. Painting is one of THE easiest ways to transform a space in a short time. Whether it’s cabinets, an accent wall, or a whole room, the difference is always pretty huge! You can see my favorite painting tips and tricks right HERE!
5. Front porch update/ door knocker– This update can look a little different for everyone– maybe your front porch just needs a few plants added, or a front door paint touch up. Something I think NEEDS to come back on every front door is a good door knocker. I had an old one lying around so I gave it a quick refresh with some Rust-Oleum spray paint, but if I was getting new, I would’ve gotten this one. You can see my porch refresh HERE!
6. Sleek Sockets– Okay, I didn’t even know these existed until recently, and my whole world has changed ever since. These bad boys take the cord clutter and hide it away, making our outlets look so neat and organized! It’s sort of like an extension cord, but it looks way better! You NEED one of these, and once you have one, you won’t be able to stop!

7. This one will only apply if you’re a dog owner– doggie door. I personally have 3 dogs that were constantly scratching at the backdoor to go out, and not only was that ruining my backdoor, but it was also driving me nuts. If you have dogs, you get it. Installing a dog door is SO much easier than people might think, and it makes all the difference in my sanity. 1000% worth it!
8. Door hardware is SO overlooked but it’s one of my favorite easy updates! All you need is a screwdriver and a drill (and really you can get by with just a screwdriver) and you can transform the vibe in your home in one afternoon– it’s seriously that easy! 9. Light-fixtures are such a mistaken update. I’ve heard so many people say that they don’t feel comfortable with electricity, or that it makes them nervous– but friend, it’s just like anything else. Once you do it one time, you can do it over and over again. And there’s about eight thousand and one tutorial videos out there. When you see how easy it truly is, you’ll be changing every light fixture in your home in no time!!

10. Implementing new storage or organization may not feel like an update, but it DEFINITELY has! Having the right storage makes ALL the difference– a clear space= a clear mind my friend! All 10 of these easy updates can transform your home in a matter of no time! Just think– if you did ONE a week for the next two and a half months, your home would be a totally different space. Heck, even if you only picked 5 and did those, your home would be pretty transformed!! Don’t be intimidated by something you’ve never done before, instead get excited about the possibilities of it all. The possibility to learn, to change your space, to be able to say “I did that!” There’s a thrill in doing it yourself that I just can’t explain.
